We’re back! We did it!

Those who know me are not even surprised - I’m a big procrastinator. I wish there was a pill for it, hah. Anyway, I’m here, I’m alive, more than ever.

Over the last few months, so many things happened and I will tell you all about it. Just this moment right now it’s mind-blowing - it’s Thursday morning, I’m sitting in our living room, my Master's diploma is hidden in a drawer and most importantly a teeny tiny human is sleeping next to me.

Let’s rewind back to April, the time when I was still pregnant. Ohh, such an amazing time! The second trimester of my pregnancy was the best, I felt so good and powerful even though my belly started growing fast and I struggled with back pain. I stopped working when I was exactly 30 weeks pregnant and I have to say that it was the best time. My adult students threw me a beautiful farewell lunch and suddenly I felt like I am going to miss teaching so bad (but I didn’t haha). When my last day at work was finished, my husband took me to our favorite spa, lovely!

My idea was to have at least two months off before the baby comes. I had a lot of plans that were mainly related to my thesis and to our house. Unfortunately, I was focused only on finishing my thesis and preparing for my defense. I spent the whole of May working on my paper, resting, and enjoying the time with my husband. The back pain didn’t allow me to sit and write my thesis for too long so I had to take a lot of breaks. Finally, at the end of May I finished writing and by 5th of June, when I was 35 weeks pregnant, I defended my thesis and got an A. I felt a huge stone falling of my chest and in my head, I still had at least a month before the baby comes...hah how naive.

During that time I also started preparing stuff for the baby, I’d like to talk about it in detail in one of my following posts.

On Sunday, June 21st, we had a small baby shower with our friends, my former bosses, and students. It was a lot of fun but also exhausting for me, considering that I did a lot of preparations by myself. Here in Taiwan, baby showers are not a common thing and I don’t have a bunch of girlfriends who could throw a party for me (thanks Linh and Tim for cooking though <3). Few days before the baby shower, I started feeling very tired and I knew that the baby won’t stay inside for much longer. And I was not wrong. :)

Gosh, I want to share everything with you right now but I know I can’t. I just can‘t press it all in one short article :) So to summarize it for now...in June I became a Master of Science and a mother <3.
