Have you ever dreamt about the moment when your beloved man/woman proposes to you? Well, I have. And because I’m a pretty unconventional person, I wanted something special, spontaneous or crazy. If my boyfriend takes me to a fancy restaurant to have a candlelight dinner, I’d probably be suspicious. The same situation would happen if all of a sudden,he takes me to a fancy hotel. See, if it‘s not our bdays or anniversary, we usually don’t do these kinds of things. (Now, the situation changed. Instead of parties on the weekends, we do exactly these kinds of things :D)
We never really talked about marriage or proposal. Not that we didn’t want it, it was on the plan (my husband likes to plan hah), we knew it will happen, we knew we wanted to do it and that there‘s no pressure (ok, maybe just a little bit). I know that in some relationships, the girl or woman always tries to get the answer for ”when are we getting married?” or ”are you planning to propose?”. Even I was in one of those situations before, and the proposal never happened. Luckily... :D
It was a normal Sunday, except me waking up early and realizing that my husband is not in the bed. He’s not a good sleeper so I thought he went for a run or walk. Not a big deal.
I don’t exactly recall what we did the whole day, but I remember he was not in a good mood and seemed a little off. I was like, you know what? Let's go to the movies. There was not a movie we desired to watch at that time, but we both like Will Smith, so we got tickets for Aladdin instead.
As usual, when we go to the movies, we were late. And that day, we got to the wrong room. We sat down and were kinda surprised that Aladdin started with a scene in one of the big American cities. Of course, it wasn‘t Aladdin....it was the beginning of Godzilla. :D
After seeing the movie, we were about to go home.
“Let‘s go to the beach” offered my husband.
Again, one of the things we sometimes do when we are in town. We just go to the beach for a stroll. But that Sunday, I really didn’t want to go and it took him a while to convince me.
We drove to the beach and parked close to the shore. The sky was so dark, not even one star was visible and there were no lights around.
“Ok, we’re here. So what now?” I was a grumpy, I just wanted to go home and I don’t even know why. :D
”Let’s play some music and relax” he said.
That was the last thing I wanted to do, listen to the music. I was so mean. If I were him I would just put that girl in the trunk of the car and would enjoy the beach by myself... :D
So, he was in the car, trying to play some tunes or at least, that‘s what I thought. When he finally got out, one of my favorite love songs was on (More than words from Extreme, very old song). It immediately made me smile, he came up to me and I wanted to dance (I mean, you know, dance like high schoolers on the prom, nothing complicated :D) but when I wanted to hold his hand, he didn’t want to open his fist. I didn’t even think that he was holding the ring!
Needless to say that, the beach we have here has no white sand, there are only stones everywhere.
All of a sudden, he kneeled down (on the stones, ouch), and he popped the question. I didn’t think he was serious. Sometimes he was just making fun of me when he was tying his shoelaces or picking something from the ground, he would just randomly ask and give me a piece of trash. :)
I think he asked again and I just said: “WTF, are you kidding me?” I might have said it more than once, also because it was dark and I didn’t see the ring at all!
I don’t even know for how long this poor guy had to kneel on those stones before I reached and touched the ring in his hands, and finally said YES.
I started crying, we hugged and stayed on the beach for a little longer. The music was still on and all the other funny songs in the playlist were following. Later, I run up to the car and put the light on to check my ring! It was the most beautiful thing I could imagine.
Every Sunday there is a small antique market in the city. Old men are selling all kinds of things. We visited the place once and there were many silver rings with jade, green and white. Jade is local to the area we live. I told him that this would be a nice engagement ring. And that’s where he rushed early that morning!!! To get the ring!!!
Silver ring with beautiful big white jade which the color changes according to the light <3
Hundred times more beautiful than all diamonds in the world and more valuable than all gold in the world....at least for me!
Later, he told me that he was planning a big proposal, dinner, hotel, etc. Exactly what I didn’t want. He was getting so stressed about it, so he pulled it all off and he just let it happen.
As Chandler said in Friends when he proposed to Monica: “ I thought that it mattered what I said or where I said it, then I realized the only thing that matters is that you make me happier than I ever thought I could be.”
